Deshojo

One of the most admired and colourful Japanese Maples, Acer palmatum 'Deshojo' is prized for its brilliant scarlet-red spring foliage and outstanding seasonal interest. New leaves emerge in vivid shades of crimson and pink-red, creating a spectacular display that makes this variety a true focal point in any garden.

As the season progresses, the foliage gradually softens to rich green with subtle bronze tones, before delivering a stunning finale of fiery red and orange hues in autumn. Its graceful branching structure and compact growth habit make it perfect for patios, borders, courtyards, and Japanese-inspired gardens.

Slow growing and easy to care for, the Deshojo thrives in a sheltered position with moist, well-drained soil. Its vibrant spring colour is particularly striking when planted against darker backgrounds or combined with evergreen shrubs.
